I am so excited to announce that I am a #girlsrunfast ambassador! How exciting! I LOVE their mission which is this:
To inspire women's inner strength and celebrate their achievements.
I LOVE THAT! Why? Because as a woman I think we should lift each other up and celebrate one another. So many of us want to compete with one another. Life is hard enough. Confidence is hard enough to get and keep. Why are tearing each other down? I don't want to be a part of that. I want to be a part of families in the fitness world where we celebrate each other and happy dance for our fellow fitness siblings when they reach a goal or hit a new PR. That is why I am so happy to be a #girlsrunfast ambassador. Click the button on the right of your screen to join the family too! God Bless.
After two "off" weeks taking care of personal health issues and taking care of my kiddos, I was more than ready to go for a run. I've always believed that running fast and long distances isn't the only way to be a runner. If you run a quarter of a mile in 15 minutes or a 5k in 10 minutes, you are a runner. You do not have to run far. You don't have to run fast. If you run, again, you are a runner. That being said, I ran my very first mile without stopping today. It was ugly and it took me 14 minutes BUT! I DID IT! There is no better feeling than crushing a goal!
When I first started running, I literally had a hard time running from one mailbox to the next in our neighborhood. Running 30 seconds, I truly felt like I was going to pass out. I ran more and more and more and entered my first 5k in August of 2012. I finished in 56 minutes.(due to pregnancy, birth and life this 5k was my last run until September 2014 when I started running regularly again) Today, I ran/walked a 5k (3.1 miles) in my neighborhood of massive hills in 47 minutes!!! I knocked 9 minutes off my 5k personal record! What a feeling!! I ran up hills I used to have to take rests on when I reached certain points. The saying is true, It Doesn't Get Easier, You Just Get Stronger.
Hello everyone. I have been asked a bit about who I am, behind the blog and Instagram and why am I on the amazing journey that I am on. Well, that is both easy and hard to explain all rolled into one. So I will do the very best that I can.
Who am I?
I am a 5 foot nothing, 29 year old, Christian mommy of two. I have been married since the day after I turned 20 to my very best friend and soul mate. My kids are 4(daughter) and 18 months(son). Both were born via c-section due to complications. My dream growing up was to be a stay at home mommy, and I am living my dream. I am very blessed to be able to do so. I also have two fur babies. A Shih-Tzu named Fuzz Cakes and a "toy" Eskimo named Yahna. I live in Alabama. I am homeschooling my kids, my 4 year old is already doing kindergarten work and LOVES doing school work.
Why am I on my journey?
This is the tough one. I am one this journey mainly because I want to be healthy and a role model for my kids. I was tired of being overweight and unhappy. I hated what I saw every time I looked into the mirror and even more so in photos. I wanted to know what it felt like to truly "love the skin you're in".
As embarrassing as this is to admit, do y'all want to know what really pushed me over the edge? Why I felt I had to start this journey? I was watching an Alabama football game and reading the stats of the players. As the stats went by I realized that I weighed as much and MORE than some of those players! I weighed more than a 6+ foot tall FOOTBALL PLAYER! Like I said before, I am barely 5 foot tall. I couldn't imagine how I was still healthy and alive. My body should never have been carrying that much weight!
So, I guess those are my reasons for wanting to start this journey. And I am truly loving this journey. I find it absolutely amazing how I don't even recognize myself in some of my photos I take to post on Instagram for #transformationtuesday. I love the feeling. I also love how happy I look now in my photos. I look back at some of the photos from the past few years and I look sad. So sad. I thought I could hide that pretty well. Obviously, I couldn't. It's so clear in the photos.
If there is anything at all that you want to know about me, please ask. I am an open book. Thank you all for visiting. Much love and God Bless.

Hello beautiful people. It has been incredibly nuts around here lately. So last Sunday my 4 year old daughter was helping daddy clean his new truck and was being a typical 4 year old and not fully paying attention to what she was doing. She took off to run and ran right into my husbands tailgate! Oh my goodness! She had the biggest laceration on her poor little face right under her nose. We had to rush to the hospital and praying the whole way that she wouldn't need stitches. In the end they used glue and she was a trooper the entire time. I was and still am so proud of the way she handled the entire situation. We got the last bit of glue off her last night and it looks so good and is healing fast.
Last Friday, the 13th ohhahhahh, I celebrated my 29th birthday and the 14th we celebrated Valentines Day along with my 9th wedding anniversary! I really enjoyed being able to celebrate it all with my husband and my babies.
So, on my birthday I woke up to a weight of 179! Yahoo! It's been 5 years since I have seen a number in the 170's and it was one amazing birthday present. So, my mother-in-law and I went shopping and I purchased a pair of size 15 jeans!! I got 2 outfits in the JUNIORS department and couldn't be more excited. I spent two and a half years after I had my first baby still sporting maternity clothes because I couldn't fit into my pre-maternity clothes and because I was too depressed to shop for new clothes and because I was truly afraid of what size I was in. After I had my second baby I threw away all of my maternity clothes after I healed from my c-section and I got to work and got into a size 20 jean I was given. I started my fitness journey on and off in May of last year. I basically gave up during the summer because it was "too hot". What kind of excuse is that?! I finally started again in September and have been going strong since. I have lost 24 pounds and have gone from a 20/22 pants and shirt (xl/xxl) to a 14/15 jean (depending on brand) and a 15 (large) shirt! I am not giving up this time. I have given up too many times before and this time I will reach my goal and I will make myself proud. I will for once in my life love and appreciate me.
Thank you for visiting my blog. If you are not following my fitness journey via Twitter or Instagram, click the buttons at the top and follow! Love and appreciation to you all.
Hello all of you beautiful people! Oh how I have missed you! My computer crashed and burned! Obviously I didn't just have $500 just laying around to purchase a new one so I had to wait for taxes. So, I am now back up and running and super excited about it!
So here's an update on some things:
I am currently at 23 pounds lost and a total of 21 inches GONE! How exciting is that?
I have gained an amazing amount of confidence in myself.
I don't hate seeing my reflection while walking by a mirror or large window. Crazy, right?
I became a Girls Gone Sporty ambassador! Check out the GirlsGoneSporty website here.
AND, I have already signed up for my first 5k of 2015! It's a blacklight run and I am super excited about it.
That's all for now. I will be posting more tomrrow, but for now, it's my bedtime. Have a blessed night.
